Children’s author Laura Lavoie has been writing since she could hold a pen. In fact, there’s still an old box full of handwritten, poorly-illustrated books crafted from construction paper and markers gathering dust in the attic above her parents’ garage. Laura has always been a ravenous reader, with early favorites including Jamberry, Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley Twins, and Goosebumps. Laura’s all-time favorite adult read is Boy’s Life by Robert R. McCammon, a well-worn copy of which sits in a special spot on one of the many bookshelves in her home. She’s also a big fan of Stephen King, John Irving, and Donna Tartt.
Perhaps stemming from her early love of reading, Laura also loves to learn and has earned a B.A., M.Ed., and M.S. In her free time, Laura enjoys hiking, kayaking, drinking a hot cup of tea on a cool fall day, and of course, curling up with a good book. She resides in upstate New York with her husband, daughter, and two feisty felines.
