Kristine Ada Carter writes speculative middle grade and young adult novels because wild ideas and chatty characters won’t leave her be. When she isn’t delving down research rabbit holes, Kristine struggles to balance her camera while hiking with her 95-pound rescue dog. She lives with her family high on a Virginia mountain where the wind sometimes knocks her over.

Workshopping her books in the classroom provides Kristine with feedback from younger readers while allowing them to learn about revision. She also works with teachers to incorporate novels into their curriculum.

After studying theatre and writing in college, Kristine researched women directors and playwrights in India on a Fulbright grant. Theatres, festivals, and drama groups have performed and workshopped her plays in California and Maryland.
