Michael Strode is a writer and filmmaker focused on supernatural horror, urban fantasy, action thrillers, and grounded werewolf crime dramas. He was born and raised in Hawaii, went to college in Rhode Island, and now splits the difference by living in Los Angeles – colder than Honolulu, more earthquakes than Providence.
Michael received an MFA in Film Production from USC, and has written and directed several award-winning shorts. His action/horror film BLACK GULCH played at over 50 festivals worldwide, won a number of awards (including Best Horror Short at Shriekfest), and was distributed through IFC, BritShorts, and iTunes. Michael has written scripts for a variety of producers, including Ombra Films and Futurist Ape Productions. His uncanny thrillers have done well at festivals, including Slamdance, the ABC•Disney Writing Fellowship, and the Nicholl Fellowship. ASYLUM, co-written with Eric Wostenberg, won Best Screenplay at Screamfest. Despite a BA in Medieval History and Philosophy from Brown, Michael has come to terms with his love for genre fiction. |
